What is the difference between Indus and IndusLite?
One of the most frequently asked questions has a very simple answer. The main difference between our two ranges is the gsm or grams per square metre. This is the thickness of the paper backdrop. Indus Papers is 185gsm and IndusLite is 145gsm.
Is this difference actually visible in photos? No, it is not. The thickness of the paper backdrop only makes a difference in handling the product. There is no visible difference when you look at both the paper backdrops in real life. You cannot tell the difference on screen or in images and videos either. The thickness also doesn’t make any difference in the quality of the images you click with your paper backdrop.
The gsm of the paper backdrop affects the weight of the paper roll. So, Indus Paper backdrops are slightly heavier than IndusLite paper backdrops. You can also feel the thickness and its difference once you hold both the papers in your hands. As it is lighter, IndusLite is easier to handle and set up. Its smaller paper rolls are even easier to work with. Whereas, Indus Papers is slightly more difficult to handle given the thickness makes it heavier.
While both ranges of Indus are not easy to damage, Indus Papers fares better than IndusLite. It is difficult to tear or wrinkle a backdrop by Indus Papers. We have tried stomping and crushing a backdrop by Indus Papers, only to find that it didn’t do much damage.
There is also a difference in the finish of both paper backdrop ranges. Indus Papers is coated, which means the raw material is covered with the colour to get the smooth, matte finish. IndusLite is pulp-dyed which means the colouring process happens at an earlier stage. Once again, it is difficult to tell the difference in the finish on your screens or in photos and videos. However, if you look closely in real life you will find that Indus Papers looks smoother than IndusLite. That is because the dyeing technique results in a much smoother finish. And IndusLite will have some grain when you take closeups or very zoomed in shots.
Another difference is the number of shades or options in colours available. Indus Papers currently has 67 shades and our goal is to maintain a catalogue of 60+ continuously. Indus Papers boasts of 17 colours that are not available anywhere else in the market. These colours include colours like #200 Carbon Grey, #187 Peach, #143 Candy Pink, #103 Onion Pink and many more. You can also find many variations of staple colours like Grey, Beige, Blue and Green in this catalogue.
IndusLite currently has 20 shades but we are soon expanding to 40 colours in total. You can find everything you need for all your creative purposes. Bright and bold colours like ruby red, fuschia, deep green, royal blue are there to make a statement. And you can find multiple options for white like a pure white, off white and even a cool white. IndusLite also has all the fan favourites like beige, grey, brown and more. And every single colour has multiple shades for you to choose from.
And the last, but the most important difference is the PRICE! Indus Papers with a higher gsm are priced higher than IndusLite. This is only a marginal difference as both ranges are very similar in their quality. If you are purchasing for the first time then go for IndusLite. It is more affordable and the best thing for a beginner. And if you are a frequent customer of paper backdrops or you use up your paper rolls frequently, then IndusLite is a good choice for you. And if you want a paper backdrop that lasts longer then go for Indus Papers. It is also a good choice when you are investing in a backdrop you want to use for a longer time.
So if you’re thinking about what’s better, Indus Papers or IndusLite – our customer service answer is “it really depends on your usage.” But our salesperson answer is “Indus Papers” because of that price difference!
